Andrew EvansThu, 03/19/2009 - 13:32 Magnificent turnings and very well photographed. The photo tutorial is excellent as well. I'm encouraged to improve photographs of my own turning.
Best regards, Andrew Evans, England.
Tom WaicekauskasTue, 03/17/2009 - 10:26 Thanks for the photography tutorial, I'm going to pass it on to my fellow woodturners. I've been shooting many of our club gallery's at our meetings and follow many of the techniques you write about. We use a large 30" photo tent - that at times is still not large enough, so we have a photo gray background that's 4' tall. Thanks for breaking the photograpy process down - you sometimes go about and get the same results, but not always able to define it! Thanks
PS got the link from Wood Turning Online newsletter
Maureen LaxpatiTHanks for a great tutorial on photography. You have given just the right amount of info for someone like me who needs to get her photos up on the website pretty soon or she's gonna . . .Sorry. I digress. Anyway, it is very usefull information and I know some things I can do right away to improve my shots.

This is just what I was looking for! I've been doing woodworking and woodturning for a number of years and always wanted to take better shots of my work. They have always turned out ok but NOT what I wanted. I plan on using the info you provided and look forward to improved results. Thanks
Mark PlacekHi Neal,
Your turnings are wonderful and the photography techniques you use to showcase them are outstanding!
I'm glad that you found my work interesting enough to post on other forums, I was overwhelmed from its result.
My artwork resides many states, Texas is not one of them, how about trading... Let me now!
Take care, Mark Placek
David MannThu, 02/05/2009 - 00:32 Thanks for posting the photo tutorial, very good info!
Eugene MaloneFri, 01/23/2009 - 19:52 Great site, so much intrest for a 70 year old beginner. Now if I can learn to turn them I will be able to take pictures as well. thank you for allowing me acess to your insight into turning. REgards Eugene Malone Ireland
Gary MillerMon, 01/19/2009 - 12:23 Very impressive web site. Interesting content and I found your photography tutorial informative.
Yonatan CourtTue, 01/13/2009 - 14:24 Thanks for the very usefull article on Photographing your work. I have been turning for 25 years or so but not seriously enough until recently. I have also been taking photos for longer, but again, not seriously enough. I recently bought a newer version of the Jet lathe that you have and it is a great improvement over my Rockwell/Beaver. I am a Canadian now living in Israel and have been taking an advanced turning course from Eli Avisera (you can google his website under that name) who is a world class turner. We have also had recent workshops with Binh Pho and Jean Escoulen. Again, thanks for your photo tips, and your turnings are beautiful.
John DingmanGreat Site Neal! And you do fantastic work!

Brendan StempGreat stuff Neal. I was sent a link to your site and was very impressed with what I saw. It is one thing being creative and another to have good woodturning skills. When you have both sparks fly and great work is produced. You're one such woodturner/artist. I really like what you are doing. Best wishes for continued success...Brendan
Jenny KanI am a painter. We are both artists, but your art is much more unique than mine. There are too many painters nowadays, but not many artists can perform your art. good luck to you!
John DavisThu, 10/09/2008 - 19:33 Can anyone recomend a wood lathe hallowing system. I own a Powermatic 3520B wood lathe.
Tim SelfWed, 08/27/2008 - 20:10 From a fellow turner, you produce some beautiful art products.
Someday I hope to turn to your level. I practice this almost daily.
And I agree with the three seasons motif. However, my dungeon is in my basement.
Lee PatzWed, 04/30/2008 - 18:18 Great site. Excellent work.
Carolyn ErwinWed, 04/16/2008 - 23:08 I'm proud of my nephew and this beautiful form of art! Keep up this beautiful work/hobby.
